The Murdoch James Estate Wines Summer Soul Festival Tour, the Gisborne Cossie Club in association with The Heritage Hotel Group and More FM proudly present Australian Hall of Famer and Soul Queen, Renee Geyer with International kiwi Blues sensation Billy TK Jnr and 4 other special guest artists on Friday 24th of January 2014. This event is open for public.

Renee Geyer’s past is Australian music history. A precocious jazz, blues and soul singer in her late teens; Countdown royalty in her 20s; a string of pop, soul and reggae
hits spanning the 70s and 80s; her LA years in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Kahn; her 90s renaissance with Paul Kelly.

The Moving Along album provided another hit at home, in America ‘Heading in the Right Direction’ was released and R&B stations loved the record. Geyer then released the albums So Lucky, Difficult Woman and Sweet Life and at the end of 1999 and 2003 saw her release the Gold selling album Tenderland.

In New Zealand she is as loved as she is back home with songs like ‘Shaky Ground’, ‘Heading in the right direction’, ‘It Only Happens’ and ‘Say You Love Me’ included as some of NZ’s most loved party songs of all time.

Renee is excited about touring in NZ this summer and playing with Billy TK Jnr who she says ‘Is a star’ after playing together at the Queenstown International Jazz & Blues Festival.

Billy TK Jnr and the Groove Shakers’ have been touring the world visiting Europe, Australia and the United States since the October 2012 release of Billy’s 3rd album, ‘Blues Benediction’ to critical acclaim.

The reviews come hot on the heels of Billy’s acclaimed performances at the Sydney Blues & Roots Festival and four major shows in Melbourne, a headline slot at the Cairns Blues Festival. Following the Australian tour Billy TK Jnr and The Groove Shakers toured the USA playing state theaters and Europe headlining massive festivals like the Polish Blues Express (10,000 people).

Also hitting the stage with Renee and Billy are Jazz Quartet Blue Pearl featuring Makareta, Juice on The Loose and special guests Harmonica master Ramblin Rick Stringer, Saxophonist Stevie Rice from Ireland and emerging kiwi songstress ABBIE who is promoting her new song and video.
